JaMarco Bowen

Intelligence Officer
U.S. Army

CPT JaMarco Bowen enlisted in the US Army in 1996, as a 25V Combat Documentation Production Specialist. CPT Bowen served for seven years as a 25V with assignments with the 55th Signal Company in Fort Meade, Maryland, 287th Signal Company in Camp Zama, Japan, and 1st Special Forces Group in Fort Lewis, Washington. He subsequently joined the University of Central Oklahoma ROTC program in 2004. In 2006, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Corporate Communication and was immediately commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence. In 2011, he graduated with a Masters of Arts Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.

CPT Bowen’s first assignment was to 1st Aviation Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division Fort Hood, Texas as the Battalion S2. He also served as the Battalion S2 for 1-4 ARB’s deployment in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 07-09 in Camp Taji, Iraq. CPT Bowen has been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Information Operations Command (L) as an Information Operations Planner. While at 1st IO he was deployed as an Information Operations Planner for Special Operations Task Force West, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Afghanistan in Camp Lawton, Afghanistan. Most recently, he was the Commander of HHC 781st Military Intelligence Battalion Fort Meade, Maryland. 781st MI BN was the first Army Cyber Battalion. Currently, he is the Senior Reconnaissance Liaison Officer at Creech AFB, NV supervising Remote Piloted Aircraft in support to ground units of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.

CPT Bowen’s military education includes the Airborne Course, Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, Basic Computer Networking Operations Planners Course Information Operations Capabilities and Applications Planners Course, MISO Integration Course, Military Deception Planners Course, Antiterrorism Program Managers Course, Army Safety and Composite Risk Management Course, and Warrior Leader Course.

CPT Bowen’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (with Numeral 2), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (with one Service Star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal Ribbon (with Numeral 2), NATO Medal, Basic Parachutist Badge, Egyptian Parachutist Badge, British Parachutist Badge, Italian Parachutist Badge, Greek Parachutist Badge, Jordanian Parachutist Badge, and United Arab Emirates Parachutist Badge. He is also a recipient of the Knowlton award which recognizes excellence in Military Intelligence.

CPT Bowen currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife the former Sharmeka James of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

What I hope to gain from this program:

I am look forward to continuing my study of human capital management at Bellevue University. Through the Bellevue University’s Human Capital Management Ph.D. program, I anticipate I will continue to gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to become an effective force manager of a diversified workforce. With an ever evolving workforce, I realize that it is necessary for me to continue my deep passion for learning about human capital in order to continue to be an effective leader in the U.S. Army.
