Bill Powers

Chief of Staff
Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

Bill Powers joined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in February 2005 after a successful career as a Fire Officer. Currently serving as Chief of Staff for the Office of Risk Management and Analysis, Mr. Powers is responsible for synchronizing, integrating, and coordinating risk management and risk analysis approaches within the DHS.

\r\nMr. Powers played in integral role in the successful development of numerous DHS preparedness grant programs to include the State Homeland Security Grant Program and the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

Mr. Powers holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master of Public Administration from Bellevue University where he is also an Adjunct Professor in the College of Professional Studies.

He is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he received the Air Force and Joint Service Commendation Medal. Additionally, Mr. Powers is a nationally certified Chief Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Rescue Technician and Incident Commander.
